I was not satisfied with the painted stanchions, so I removed them and cleaned the paint off them (no mean task!). I will put them into wood and spray them like the previous stanchions before refitting to the deck.

The rope ties fitting did not go smoothly! I made the holes and then could not get the tie bars to fit. I ended up filling two of the holes to the outside of the ones shown in the photo. Matching the paint up (initially sprayed on) is difficult to do. This photo shows building the colour up with a brush to match the original finish

This picture shows the trial area at the rear of the top deck. I placed masking tape to see how the edge of the painted deck came out and, although it is not perfect, I am quite pleased with the result, so I will follow this method throughout.

Here are the pipes for the fire tenders primed and sprayed gloss white. The pipes should be the same colour as the deck but I think the detail will show more being white and giving more contrast.
